2011 World Series Of Poker Event 43

Not that it is particularly surprising, but the 43rd Event in the 2011 WSOP is also a Texas Hold 'em event. We have found that this tournament runs in line with some of the earlier hold 'em tournaments, requiring a fairly small buy-in in order to get into the games. If you like Texas hold 'em and large format tournaments, than this could be the tournament that best suits your needs.

The 43rd event of the World Series of Poker is a fairly standard Texas Hold 'em tournament. This tournament will begin on June 25th. To enter the event you will have to pay $1,500 for the buy-in. If you pay this buy-in you will be able to participate. The event will run for three days. This tournament is expected to run until June 27th. On the initial day the event will begin at 12 PM.

Tournament Updates

Day 1 Update - After the first day of play, 385 players remain in the 43rd event. This is down from the 2,857 that came out to participate. Age Spets is the chip leader, with 119,900 chips in his pile. Nicholas Grippo is right behind him at 110,900. Bret Hruby is also in the mix, with 110,600. A top prize of $675,117 has been established, with 297 players being paid over all. Joe Cada is still in the mix, as is Maria Ho, Dwyte Pilgrim, Tommy Vedes, Eric Baldwin, and many other notable players. The field will come down to the bubble today, perhaps solidfying a final three tables. The ten day rule may ultimately force a fourth day in this event.

Day 2 Update - The third day of the 43rd event will invite 39 players back to the tables to work it down to the wire. With Byron Kaverman in the lead, holding 1,345,000 to his name, the remaining 37 players, who have chip stacks no higher than 722,000. Few major names were still participating in the event, and it is a stream of mostly amateurs that are still participating in this event. Douglas Yamashiro is in second place, with Simon Watt in the third place position. Canadian Sherif El Messiri is on the short stack, with 87,000 to his name. The blinds are 5,000/10,000, with an ante of 1,000, leaving the short stacks in dangerous conditions. The top prize of $675,117 is enough motivation for striving toward success, with a minimum prize of $12,805 going to those who bust out early in the tournament.

Day 3 Update - As expected, the 43rd event has come down to a fourth day. The ten day rule has made it so the 34 players that had come back to the third day could not be finished off. The final table had been secured, but of the final nine only two remain. Ray Foley, Phillip Meulyzer, Zachary Hall, Nicholas Chouity, Scott Sitron, Jacob Naquin, and Matthew Carmody have all come to the final table and gone, and only two remain -nachmaTn Berlin and Andre Akkari. Berlin holds 9,465,000 chips, while 3,400,000 chips are in Akkari's pile. Akkari's pile is not so small that he is at risk of immediate elimination, but he is going to have to struggle to reclaim the top if he is going to win WSOP Gold.

Day 4 Update - Andre Akkari has won the 43rd event, taking down the bracelet in this event, as well as the $675,117 prize going into his bank account. Akkari had to deal with Nachman Berlin going into the final day, and Berlin had a major chip lead going into the day. Berlin held 9,465,000 chips, while Akkari had a total of 3,400,000 - a lead of almost 3-1. Akkari's luck would begin early in the day, as he had won the first hand going into the day. His luck would continue throughout the day, and he managed to take the chip lead from Nachman. It took almost four hours of heads up play for Akkari to win, as the two had been back and forth, riding a metaphorical rollercoaster. Akkari has won his first bracelet, and he has climbed the Player of the Year boards because of it.
