USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 46 Six Handed No Limit Hold Em Championship
This six handed no limit Texas Hold 'em event is the world championship event. Like all world championship events, this will be one of the most prestigious bracelets on the market. The tournament requires a lower buy-in this year, which should attract a bigger field of players. Last year, the event required a $25,000 buy-in and it attracted 191 players. The prize pool burst the $4.5 million mark, and $1,315,518 went to Dan Kelly. Shawn Buchanan took second place, earning $812,941 for his efforts. Frank Kassela came pretty close to winning his third bracelet of the year, but he only managed to take third place in this event.
In the 2011 WSOP the Six Handed No Limit Hold 'em Championship will require a $10,000 buy-in. Though this is significantly lower than last year, the prize pool should be significantly higher. We think that this tournament will be one of the more lucrative on the market. The start of the event will be on June 27th. The event begins at 12 PM, at which time the event will start off. The three day event will run until June 29th.
Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - At the end of the first day in the $10,000 six handed no limit hold 'em championship, Alan Sternberg has climbed to the top of the charts. Alan controls 260,000 chips, but competition is hot on his heels. Kevin Saul is in second place with 242,600, and recent bracelet winner Ben Lamb is stuck with 223,000 chips. Joe Cada is in fourth, leaving the top four with some big names. Dwyte Pilgrim, Fabrice Soulier, Phil Laak, John Racener, James Akenhead, Jeff Shulman, Freddy Deeb, Jonathan Duhamel, and many more are still in the running. The prize pool has been built to $4,445,600 due to the 474 entrants, and only 162 remain in contention. A top prize of $1,158,481 will go to the big winner, along with the bracelet.
Day 2 Update - Only 22 players remain after 474 players had come out to play in the second day. There are still several big names remaining, including Chris Moorman at 1.45 million chips, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier who holds 1.4 million chips, and David Benefield who holds 622,000 chips. Jonathan Duhamel, David Baker, James Akenhead, and Dwyte Pilgrim had all been eliminated, with no money going into their pockets. The final 22 players will earn at least $35,377 for their efforts. A top prize of $1,158,481. This six handed event will bring four tables, with one spot at two tables remaining empty. Ben Lamb is also in the mix, with a fairly middle of the road chip stack. Lamb already earned his first bracelet this year, and he is aiming at taking another.
Day 3 Update - As expected, a fourth day has been forced in the 46th event of the World Series of Poker. Though eliminations came fairly quick through the third day, heads up could not come to an end. Ben Lamb was a hopeful to win the bracelet, but he was sent packing in the 12th place position. He earned $56,140 for his efforts. It came down to Joe Ebanks and Chris Moorman. Moorman has Ebanks backed into a corner, with 3,215,000 chips in Ebanks's stack. Moorman managed to pull together a pile of 11,015,000, so he is in a solid position to browbeat Ebanks out of the competition. These two players are working to earn the $1,158,481 top prize, as well as the incredible bracelet waiting for the winner of the event.
