USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 47 Omaha / Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8 or Better
The mixed game in event 47 is that of Omaha and Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8 or better. Players looking to participate in this tournament will have to be apt at not one, but two forms of poker. This is a new event going into the year, and players should find this to be one of the more exciting, if not one of the more esoteric tournaments. This should be predominantly a professional player tournament, though some recreational players should also participate in the event. A relatively low buy-in is required, so this is not a tournament that is restricted to players who are less than affluent.
The 47th event kicks off on June 27th. Players will be welcome to join in until then, provided a buy-in of $2,500 is paid. The tournament will operate for a total of three days. This three day event runs until June 29th. If you enter the tournament, be there at 5 PM - the starting time.

(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - The first day of the Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi Low 8-or-Better event brought out 450 players, building a prize pool of $1,023,750. Of the 450, only 201 remain in the event. Abe Mosseri has secured the chip stack, with 64,200 chips in his pile. Jonathan Spinks is behind him in third place, with 43,600 to his name. Some names remaining in this unique event include Erik Seidel, Eric Baldwin, David Sklansky, Josh Arieh, Barry Greenstein, "Thomas" Dwan, who may or may not be Tom Dwan, Alex Kravchenko, Mike Sexton and many more. John Juanda, Daniel Negreanu, Jon Turner, Shawn Buchanan and Jason Mercier have all hit the rail for the day. A top prize of $255,959 will go to the big winner, with $158,148 going to the second place winner.
Day 2 Update - Michael Mizrachi, one of 2010's November Nine, has managed to earn the chip lead in the second day of the Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split 8 or Better. He has 407,000 chips in his pile, with Abe Mosseri right behind him at 303,000. Barry Greenstein and Scotty Nguyen both remain in the event, with dominant positions to run toward the bracelet in this event. With $255,959 on the table, these players have quite a bit of cash on the table. There is no telling who will take down the bracelet, as each player has a fair shot at earning some serious cash. The chip stacks are all still relatively low and even, giving every player fairly equal footing to win.
Day 3 Update - Owais Ahmed has won the 47th event in the WSOP, earning $255,959 for and the highly coveted WSOP bracelet. He ended up going head to head with Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, and the two had shipped chips back and forth. At one point Mizrachi had Ahmed on the cusp of elimination, but he managed to bounce back and turn the tides against Mizrachi. "The Grinder" earned $158,148 for his efforts. Eliminations brought the players down to heads up quickly, with Barry Greenstein, Scotty Nguyen, Richard Ashby and the other 19 players being knocked out fairly swiftly. Scotty Nguyen earned fifth place, while Greenstein was knocked out in 19th. Ashby went home in 20th.
