USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP WSOP Event 57 Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better
The second to last event is event 57, the Pot Limit Omaha Hi Low Split 8 or Better tournament. This is the last official tournament before the Main Event, meaning the field will probably be fairly thin - especially considering this tournament is set to end on the one of the first days of the Main Event. Those who wish to participate will not be met with the lowest buy-in, but it is not very high either - it is very middle of the road. We expect this field to be thin, and you may even be able to have a better shot at winning a bracelet because of that fact.
If you want to enter this tournament, do so before the starting date - July 5th. The event is scheduled to run three days, culminating on July 7th, 2011. Those who participate will be joining their opponents at 5 PM. A buy-in of $5,000 will help contribute toward the prize pool.
Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - The final non-hold 'em event to start was PLO Hi-Low, Split-8 or better, and 352 players paid the $5,000 required to enter. Of these 352, only 189 remain. Gary Bolden is the chip leader, but just barely. He has 98,300 chips in his pile. Eric Crain has 96,500, with Austin Marks holding 89,500. Erik Seidel, Phil Laak, Richard Ashby, Sorel Mizzi, Alexander Dovzhenko, Daniel Alaei, Nick Schulman, Mike Matusow, and Huck Seed are among the notable players still remaining. Bertrand Grospellier, Tom Dwan, Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, and Sammy Farha are those that hit the rail. With the main event starting tomorrow, I doubt they are too worried about this final tournament of the series.
Day 2 Update - Nick Schulman is leading the pack in the 57th event. He holds 772,000 chips, and is dominating most of the 25 players remaining in this tournament. He will have some stiff competition going into the final day of this tournament, with Allen Kessler and Phil Laak both at his table in the beginning of the day. Nick Binger and Alexander Dovzhenko are also both in the running, though they will be at different tables than our chip leader. With the main event right around the corner, these players are hoping to finalize the event. With a prize of $397,073 on the line, it is definitely something that they will all be working toward.
Day 3 Update - A fourth day has also forced in the 57th event. Two players remain with fairly even chip stacks, and they will continue to duke it out going into the fourth day, which overlaps day 1B of the 2011 WSOP Main Event. David Bach and Nick Binger are those who remain, and they had already put in 2.5 hours of heads up play. Bach holds 2,055,000, while Binger has 3,230,000 chips. The two will return to the tables at 4PM PST, where Binger will attempt to win his first WSOP bracelet and Bach will add to his other bracelet, the bracelet from the 2009 $50,000 Poker Players Championship. A top prize of $397,073 is available to he who wins the prize.
Day 4 Update - The 57th event attracted 352 players from the start, and the fourth day brought only David Bach and Nick Binger back to the table to battle for the bracelet. Roughly even chip stacks were held, and Binger was aiming to earn his first bracelet, while Bach had aimed to make his total number of bracelets double up to two. Binger succeeded in winning the $5,000 PLO event, and did so scooping the high and the low pot on the final hand. Expect to see both players in the 2011 Main Event, as they have both earned more than $200,000 for their efforts.
