USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 9 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball
Exciting is one word you will use to describe the 2011 WSOP's event #9, and you will see that this is because it is a less than common event. Event 9 is set to be a 2-7 Draw Lowball event, which is one of the more attractive events in the eyes of some of the more adept players. We are sure this event will be one of the more exciting events on the market. The 2-7 Draw Lowball game is a bit out of place compared to last year, as the matching event from the previous year was the 7th in the series, and it was a limit match as opposed to a no limit match.
Last year's first 2-7 Draw Lowball Event brought in 291 entrants, and it is likely that it will be fairly small this year as well. These tournaments rarely grow beyond a couple hundred entrants, and it is unlikely this will be a large event this year. They require a buy-in of $1,500 in this event, making this one of the cheaper events in the series. There won't be any real satellites to this tournament, so expect to buy in to this event with your own cash. We don't advise entering without some practice, so head on over to the free online poker rooms to get some practice without having to take any real risks.

Event 9 Results - Three days of play went into the No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball tournament. The $1,500 buy-in built a prize pool of only $371,250, but this pool would give a six figure pay day to the top winner. Many big names came to the event, with Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Jimmy Fricke, Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth, JC Tran, David Sklansky, Tom Dwan, Josh Arieh, Huck Seed, and even Doyle Brunson making an appearance. Shaun Deeb, Phil Laak, and Tommy Vedes had also come out. The first day ended with many eliminations. Doyle Brunson was one of the first big names to go home, as was J.C. Tran. Tom Dwan, Andy Bloch and Phil Hellmuth had also joined the fallen. Only 73 players made it into day 2. Matt Affleck was the first elimination of day 2, but he was far from the last.
Only Jason Mercier, Robin Rightmire, Josh Brikis, Thomas Fuller, Chris Bjorin, Bernard Lee and Matt Perrins would survive through day 2. Perrins was the chip leader, holding 293,000 chips. Jason Mercier was the short stack, sitting with only 89,000 chips to his name. The third day kicked off with Chris Bjorin off to an early start. Jason Mercier was the first elimination of the day. Josh Brikis, Thomas Fuller, Bernard Lee and Robin Rightmire were the next four to go, with Chris Bjorin and Matthew Perrins going into heads up play. Chris Bjorin went up against Matt Perrins in the heads up event, but Matt Perrins would outlast his opponent despite having never played 2-7 Draw Lowball before the day. Chris Bjorin failed to succeed, but he did earn $63,112 for his efforts.
