Welcome to our site and your connection to the 2009 AFC South Schedule Preview.Tennessee came out on top in 2008 as the AFC South division leaders. The Titans finished just one game a head of rival the Indianapolis Colts finishing the season with 13 wins and just 3 losses. Tennessee Capitalized on big man LenDale White's ability to find the end zone on goal line plays. The Colts finished the 2008 season with a decent record of 12-4, something Colts fans have come used to seeing while Peyton Manning has the ball at quarterback. Houston was the surprise team in the AFC South last year, finishing the season third in the division with a record of 8-8. The Texans found ways to utilize rookie RB Steve Slaton's speed toward the end of the season. The Jacksonville Jaguars fell apart in 2008 finishing the year last in the division with a record of 5-11. The Jaguars failed on both sides of the ball in 2008, chances are they wont see much improvement in the 2009 NFL Season.
2009 Tennessee Titans AFC South Schedule PreviewThe Titans played well in 2008 and their record proved it. Though the offense did thrive the way the Titans wanted to, the defense sure did come to play. In 2008 the Titans finished 2nd in the NFL in points against per game at 14.6 and, Finished 7th in total yards against at 293.6 per game. The Tennessee Titans defense did loose one big contributor to their stellar defense last year in nose tackle Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth was a big reason why the Titans played so well on the defensive side of the ball. I see the titans finishing just behind the Colts at 11-5.
2009 Indianapolis Colts AFC South Schedule PreviewThe Colts played well last season again, but not well enough to take the division from the Titans. The Colts also lost an important figure on their team as well ass a big portion of there offense the last 7 years. Marvin Harrison was cut by the Colts at the end of last season, leaving be hind Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark as the only receivers still on the team that won the Superbowl in 2006. Lucky for Peyton Manning, Wayne and Clark have been the most productive receivers for the colts in the last three years. Looks like Peyton Manning will just have to pick another receiver to turn into a Pro Bowl player on the right side of the formation again this year. The Colts win the division back in 2009 with the same 12-4 record.
2009 Houston Texans AFC South Schedule PreviewThe Houston Texans tried hard to break the stereotype of a bad team in the NFL. The Texans might have succeeded at doing just that, 8-8 is a good record for such a young team in such a hard division. If the Texans can manage to get just a bit better on defense in 2009, they could manage to win 10 games and maybe a wild card spot. Rookie running back sensation played big for the Texans turning 5 yard drop offs into 60 yard scores. The Texans defense finished 3rd in the NFL in Total yards gained per game with 382.1 yards. Now that the Texans have established some running game, the passing game for star wide out Andre Johnson will begin to shine even more. The Texans get one game better with a record of 9-7.
2009 Jacksonville Jaguars AFC South Schedule PreviewThe jaguars came into the 2008 season with a running game they thought couldn't be matched in running backs Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. That was not the case, the running game was deflated early and Jones-Drew didn't get his first touchdown until weeks into the season. The Jaguars need more than just a running game, something they learned through experience last year. That's why the Jaguars went out and signed wide receiver Torry Holt during free agency. Holt wont make much of an impact if he cant get his hands on the ball, so the pressure lies on the shoulders of starting quarterback David Garrard to find was to get the ball to Holt. The Jaguars get better in 2009 but, not by much finishing the season with a record of 8-8.
2009 AFC South Schedule Key Match Ups
October 11th, 2009 - Colts @ Titans - The Colts visit the Titans in Tennessee, The Titans and the Colts always match up well against each other and this year shouldn't be any different.
November 23rd,2009 - Titans @ Texans - The Texans get a chance at home to pull off the Upset against the Titans midway through the season. If the Texans can pull off one or two big wins against the Titans, it might just advance them into the post season.
November 29th, 2009 - Colts @ Texans - The Texans almost pulled off a crucial victory in this same game last year, but the Colts came back to win with just seconds left in the Game. Look to see the Texans pull off the victory this time.
December 17th,2009 - Colts @ Jaguars - The Colts have had trouble finding ways to win in Jacksonville in the past. I don't see the Jaguars putting up to much of a this late in the season if their record is already below .500, look for the Colts to pull off the victory.
