Welcome to your home for the 2009 NFC South Schedule Preview. NFC South brought around a new change in the NFC playoff picture by adding two teams themselves last year, the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers finished with a 12- 4 record and, the Falcons with an 11-5 record at the end of the 2008 season. The New Orleans Saints finished with a record of 8-8 after destroying the league with the best points per game average in all of football at 28.9 points per game. The Saints will have to play some sort of defense, if they want to get that high octane offense back into the 2009 NFL playoffs. Tampa Bay's defense held the Buccaneers to an above .500 record at 9-7, but still not good enough to get into the playoffs.
2009 Carolina Panthers NFC South Schedule PreviewThe Carolina Panthers won the NFC South division last year with an impressive running attack. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart began to gain confidence as the season progressed on, finishing the year 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards per game at 152.3ypg. The rushing attack of the Panthers will be key to their success in the 2009 NFL Season. Panthers finish second in the NFC South this year with a record of 10-6.
2009 Atlanta Falcons NFC South Schedule PreviewThe Atlanta Falcons surprised the NFL in 2008 by amassing an 11-5 record after wining only 4 games in 2007. Matt Ryan came in as a rookie and led the team with his on the field leader ship, but it was the running game of Michael Turner that took the Falcons to the next level. Turner rushed for over 1,600 yards and drove the ball into the end zone on 17 separate occasions this season. The Falcons finish the 2009 season with one less win at 10-6.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFC South Schedule PreviewThe Buccaneers didnt make it to the playoffs in 2008, a big reason why they hired new head coach Raheem Morris. Morris looks to bring a can change on the offensive side of the ball, sense the defense once again finished in the top 10 in both point against per game and yards against per game. Coach Morris will have his work cut out for him in his first season as an NFL head coach. The Buccaneers finish with a record of 7-9 under coach Morris.
2009 New Orleans Saints NFC South Schedule PreviewLooking at the offensive stats for the New Orleans Saints, one would think they owned one of the best records in the league last year. That was not the case for the 2008 saints, though finishing 1st in points per game, Yards per game and, passing yards per game, the saints failed to make the playoffs in consecutive seasons. The NFC South is known for teams finishing last one year and then winning the division the next. I see this happening again this year, the Saints finish the 2009 season as NFC South Champs and a record of 12-4.
