Lawsuit hits Caeser's Palace Over Smoke Filled Air

Casino News - July 24th, 2009 - Written by Glen

Caeser's Palace employees have recently brought action against their employer in the federal courts. They seek to have safety precautions set in place to protect their health from the constant cloud of smoke that hangs over their heads, particularly and especially within the gaming floor.

The workers have compared Caeser's to other casinos in the area, stating that many other casinos have been helping to reduce the amount of carcinogenic smoke the employees have to inhale. The issue is one that has been investigated, and some have suggested complete bans be enacted against smoking. The plaintiffs do not seek an outright ban, rather they just want action taken to protect their health.

They claim that there used to be smoke-free areas on the upper levels of the casino, but these were allegedly removed. Furthermore, the plaintiffs are alleging that they are not entitled to ask smoking players to relocate their butts, cigarettes, or ashtrays, on the grounds of customer service. Some have even suggested that they fear losing their jobs if they take a stand.

In addition to the previous claims, they have stated that the casino promotes smoking amongst their patrons, going as far as handing out free tobacco products. Whether these claims are true or false has yet to be proven, but the issue will be taken to a federal court.

All they seek is changes to be made to protect their health. Amongst their requests were improved ventaliation, non-smoking sections of the casino, as well as aiding those who may have already been negatively affected by the smok
