Ultimate Fighter to Ultimate Dancer? Liddell Joins Dancing with Stars

Starting September 9th, Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell will drop the shorts for something a bit more casual and turn to ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."Chuck has been hailed one of the most popular fighters in MMA history, and his recent retirement has allowed him to pursue more options such as this. Athletes have made appearances on "Dancing With the Stars" before, and they typically fare rather well.

His costars include former Cowboys wide receiver, Michael Irving, Aaron Carter, Macy Gray, and Kelly Osbourne. The 6'2", 205 pound brawler will tower over the competition, and perhaps give the judges second thought before criticizing the martial artist's moves.

While the Iceman may not look the part, his physical prowess should allow him to perform spectacularly. Other Athletes taking part in this year's "Dancing" will include a snowboarder, Louie Vito, as well as Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin. Coughlin and Vito also belong to sports requiring heavy stamina and flexibility, leading to the idea that they may make excellent counterpoints to Liddell's towering physique.

The show will begin September 21st, and is set to air at 8:00 p.m. This will be the show's 9th season. Last season saw Shawn Johnson, the 17 year old artistic gymnast, as the winner, with Brooke Burke before her.

The odds makers at BetUS have been hard at work, and each of the 16 contestants has a money line through their site. Gymnast Natalie Coughlin is the current favorite, as she has a +600 line. Joanna Krupa is the closest favorite, and she is resting with +650 odds. Melissa Joan Hart and Mya are tied at +700. Donny Osmond as well as Mark Dacascos have +750 odds. Football pro Michael Irvin has +800, as does Ashley Hamilton. Fighting man Liddell is stuck at +900, as is super model Kathy Ireland. Debi Mazar has a +950, and this is the last set of odds under +1000, which is held by Macy Gray. Kelly Osbourne has odds of +1100, which is to be expected, with Louie Vito and Aaron Carter behind her at +1200. Finally, Tom DeLay has odds of +1300.
