Gambling News - November 5th, 2009 - Written by Glen
November Third marked the culmination of the expanded gambling issue in the state of Ohio, and the voters have spoken their opinion. Four new casinos are to be built within the state of Ohio, ending a twenty year opposition of gambling. Over fifty-three percent of the voters that had turned out voted in favor of Issue 3.
Penn National Gambling has been granted the rights to operate Vegas style casinos in Cincinnati and Toledo, while the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dan Gilbert, has been entitled to build casinos in Cleveland and Columbus.
In little over two years time, all four casinos are expected to complete. With over 20,000 slot games expected to be rolled out, tax revenues are expected to yield hundreds of millions in tax revenue within the first years alone. Roughly thirty-three percent of the revenue will be collected in taxes, and nearly 40,000 jobs are expected to be created.
Though good news for Ohio and gamers, Indiana expects to lose millions in revenue on an annual basis from the Ohioans that had traveled to Indiana's casinos. With a 10% jobless rate, however, Ohio is in desperate need of the construction and casino jobs to be created within the state.
Penn National Gaming has already taken an increase in price per share, and the plans for casino gaming are already underway. Roulette, poker, blackjack, keno, slots, and any other game found in neighboring states will be found in these new casinos to be brought to Ohio, giving legal USA online casinos some competition from land based organizations around the state, and Ohio residents can also turn to Ohio Online Gambling.
