Gambling News - September 5th, 2009 - Written by Glen
Online sports betting sites, BetUS in particular, have always targeted different industries on which they will take bets, and the music industry is one of their newest additions to entertainment betting. These lines do not pay the most money, but they are a safer bet for some, and they also provide an interactive experience with the Billboards.
The Billboards are the biggest ranking system for music, and two lines are available for betting. Two albums are set to debut, and bettors will have just over a week's time to place wagers on how they will contend against each other. Jay-Z's new album, Blueprint 3, is set against 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct. The competition will pit both albums against one another for the most first week sales. 50 Cent is running at even odds, but Jay-Z is the favored with -140.
The 50 Cent Album is also subject to its own particular betting line. Odds makers have set the odds on which position the album will hold on the charts. They expect 50 Cent to reach number one, which will pay at a rate of -150. Number 2 or worse covers a bet of +110, giving players a bigger chance at collecting a win. Many would argue that taking the top position would be a safer bet, though many more options are available with the number 2 or worse line.
iTunes is one of the most common ways that people purchase music in today's world, and two lines have also been created surrounding the iPod based service. The Beatles have been unavailable through iTunes since its inception, and it is suggested that their music will be available on iTunes in the relatively near future. Odds are out on this event, and September 9th is the magical date. If the Beatles are added to iTunes, they will pay out a rate of -140. The "no" line will pay even odds.
Digital sales against CD sales have also been a hot discussion, and this is also a line available through BetUS. The line will run for one year, from September of '09 to September of '10. The question simply asks whether or not digital music sales will surpass CD sales, and both lines will pay at a rate of -120.
All of these lines and more exist through BetUS, and BetUS is offering a 50% match bonus to all new players. These bets are the tip of the iceberg, and all major sports and entertainment events are covered. Music fans and sports fans can enjoy these lines, which will be closing in the near future. Any bettors who may show interest in these lines are urged to join now, as they will not be around for much longer.
