NFL News - August 10th, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith
The Arizona Cardinals made it all the way to the Super Bowl last year, and they look to return to the super Bowl again in 2009. The Cardinals played well late in the season last year, and entered the playoffs as the NFC south division champions in 2008. The NFC south has become one of the weakest divisions in all of football, and for that reason the Arizona Cardinals will likely repeat as NFC south division champions once again. Winning the NFC championship game, and just returning to the NFC championship game, will be a problem for the Arizona Cardinals in 2009. The NFC has gotten much better in 2009, and The Cardinals will run into an assortment of teams capable of beating them in the playoffs.
The sportsbooks don't seem to favor the NFC champions of last year, as they are listed as a 30:1 favorite to win the Super Bowl in 2010. Online sportsbooks have 15 other NFL teams, listed with better odds to win the Super Bowl in Miami, than the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals do have experience on their side entering the 2009-2010 season, with Kurt Warner coming back to the football field as the official starting quarterback. The Arizona Cardinals do have wide receivers Anquan Boldin, and Larry Fitzgerald returning to the football field in 2009 as well, and the experience they have gained in last years post season run, will convert over to the regular season this year.
The Arizona Cardinals will also have a strong number of returning players on the defensive side of the football this season. Adrian Wilson, the long time Arizona Cardinals strong safety, will return as the captain on defense this season, and his leadership ability created big time defensive plays in the post season last year. Not to mention Darnell Docket, the big monster of a defensive Tackle will also return to the Cardinals, and the presence of these two long time Arizona Cardinal players has established a since of prestige in the franchise. With the quality number of returning players back on the team, and the explosive ability of the Cardinals passing game, another birth to the playoffs should be in reach. Choice online sportsbooks, such as Bodog and BetED, have released these odds for all 32 teams to win the Super Bowl, start placing wagers before the season starts.
