Cowboys Open New Stadium As 3 Point Favorites Over Titans

NFL News - August 21st, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith

The Dallas Cowboys did not win their first preseason game against the Oakland Raiders, but they have some viable excuses. The Cowboys first team offense only played in limited series during the game, and they did not have much time to gain a rhythm. Tonight will be much different, as the Cowboys first team offense/defense will most likely play the entire first quarter. This game will be a good indicator of how the Cowboys offense will perform in 2009. The Cowboys are searching for a third receiver to play on the field in three receiver sets. Sam Hurd and Miles Austin are the early favorites to win the job, but rookie receiver from Oklahoma, Manuel Johnson could possibly win the job.

Most of the hype tonight is surrounding the grand opening of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. Owner Jerry Jones spared no expense turning this stadium into the finest sporting venue in all of the United States. This preseason week 2 game, will be aired on the FOX television network at 8:00 p.m. Friday Night. Since the Cowboys are in the NFC, and the NFC television affiliate is FOX, expect to see the new Cowboys stadium on T.V. more often than often. They say everything is bigger in Texas, and this new Cowboys stadium attest to that statement.

The Tennessee Titans have not yet experienced a loos in the Preseason. The Titans are 2-0 entering into their 3rd preseason game of the 2009 season against the Cowboys. However online sportsbooks such as Bodog, have released odds on the game tonight, and the Titans are a +3 underdog. Bodog has also set the over and under game line in this match up at 38 1/2 points. In most preseason games it is difficult to determine the final out come, but with both teams expecting to play their starters the entire first half, a heated battle could take place.

LenDale White will be a good player to keep an eye on in this game. His production might go down this season, if rookie running back from last year, Cris Johnson, continues to average over 5 yards a carry. Vince Young is another talented player that could move himself up the depth chart with a good performance. Young has expressed his wishes to becoming the starting quarterback for the Titans once again, but only his performance on the field will determine that move. Vince Young will have chances to play with the first team offense, if he takes advantage of the situation, a quarterback controversy could blossom. The last time these two teams played each other in the regular season was in 2006. It just so happened that game was Vince Young's first start in the NFL, and the Cowboys demolished the Titans with a final score of 45-14. Will the same out come happen tonight?
