NFL News - November 30th, 2009 - Written by Glen
Of all the games on Sunday, the AFC North Match up was the most anticipated. Though less exciting than the Steelers/Ravens match up, fans still found the game a relief from common day football. The Browns entered double digit losses for the season, marking the eighth time in eleven years. The Cincinnati Bengals continue their dominant streak, running 8 wins and 3 losses now that they have quelled the Browns.
The ground game, backed by newcomer running back Larry Johnson managed to pull in 210 yards overall, with 107 coming from Johnson himself. Carson Palmer, Bengals' quarterback, had kept the ball on the ground, with 45 ground plays to only 24 passes. Palmer ended the night 13 of 24, bringing in 110 yards with a touchdown on top of it all.
Nine of the past eleven games between the intrastate rivals ended in Cincinnati's favor.
The Cleveland Browns kept to the short game as well, keeping the ball grounded most of the day. Not to say that Brady Quinn did not try, but the Bengals would simply not allow coverage to lax enough to allow the ball to meet its mark. Quinn threw for 100 yards, completing 15 of 34 passing attempts. Quinn did, however, manage to make his first career rushing touchdown in the game, moving the ball nine yards for a touchdown.
Highlights include the horsecollar tackle performed by Shaun Rogers against Carson Palmer, which put Palmer dazed in confused, as well as costing the Browns a few more points, a leg injury that brought Rogers off the field on a cart later in the game, and Quinn's nine yard drive for his first rushing touchdown
In terms of NFL Betting on the Bengals Browns game, the over/under was set at thirty-nine, yet another under for the 12th week the 2009 NFL season. USA online sportsbooks, such as BetUS, had the point spread set with the Bengals as the 14 point favorite, though they failed to meet the spread by allowing Quinn to make his personally historic rushing touchdown.
