Pac Man Ready To Make It Snow

NFL News - September 1st, 2009 - Written by John

pac mann jonesIt was an easy decision for Adam Jones, really. The Canadian Dollar is trading at $1.09 compared to the U.S. Dollar. Duh.

Instead of signing here in the states, he made the logical choice to go to Canada to continue playing football. A no-brainer. No, the actual value of the contract won't literally be worth more, but the dollar amount will be way higher than if he had signed with the United Football League here in America. So when he's making it rain somewhere on the Winnipeg strip, he can blow $100,000 but it will feel like $109,000. That's like a whole 'nother fistful.

Sports Illustrated reported Tuesday that Jones had offers from both the the UFL and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, and instead of competing with the NFL he so wanted to stay in, opted to sign with the Bombers. Sports Illustrated reported that one of the factors was money, but nothing has been leaked about how much the one-year deal is worth.

"It'll be a good experience for me to get back in game shape and compete and play football, which I like to do," Jones said on SI.com. "I'm real happy for the opportunity that's been given to me. Of course it's disappointing to me to not be playing in the NFL. But things happen and you have to adjust."

Jones had a rocky career in the NFL after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the first round in 2005. He was at the center of 12 criminal probes and was arrested six times, including the infamous 2007 case where three men were shot outside a Las Vegas night club. Reports say that the shootings were the result of wreckless behavior from Jones (among others), who reports say carried bags of $1 bills onto the dance floor and "made it rain". Video later surfaced of the incident, which showed Jones, along with rap icons, Nelly and Jermaine Dupri, dumping bushels of money onto the floor and strippers fighting for the cash.

Tennessee soon released Jones, who was suspended by the NFL until he was reinstated in 2008. By then, he was already traded to the Cowboys in hopes of reviving his career and played nine games in Dallas. But he only managed 31 tackles with no picks and his potential as a punt returner was never unfurled. Dallas released him in February
