With this years Main Event holding a total of 6494 players, Day 7 of the 2009 WSOP comes to an end, leaving only one more day of tournaments before the November Nine. Only 27 players remain, which is less than 1/2 % of the original 6494 that started the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Day 7 was off to a quick elimination process with Prahlad Friedman being the first to go only ten minutes into play. Eliminations continued to move along quickly player after player, right up until there was 28 players left. Within 20 minutes, play time was up for 6 players, which included 2007 player of the year Tom " DonkeyBomber" Schneider, who finished in 52nd place. Not far behind Schneider was Dennis Phillips who participated in 2008's November Nine. He leaves finishing in 45th place.
It is no surprise to hear that Phil Ivey gained chips early on, along with Billy Kopp and Day 6 chip leader Darvin Moon. Moon managed to increase his stack play after play and will walk away with 20,160,000 and his second day in a row as chip leader. Phil Ivey has some catching up to do to reach Moons cool 20 mil, but he will start Day 8 not to far behind with 11,350,000. Two other well known poker players ending Day 7 of the 2009 World Series of Poker is none other than Antonio Esfandiari and Ludovic Lacay who will be head of the class at the start of Day 8 with chip counts of 4,470,000 and 5,610,000.
As we near closer to the November Nine, we continue to see an amazing display of poker skills. The well known players such as Ivey and Moon are expected to remain in the top, where as there have been some surprises from new comers making there way to the final stages of the WSOP Tournament. Day 8 is sure to be a long, exhausting , but entertaining, day of play.
