Sports Betting News - August 26th, 2009 - Written by Jimmy
With things just days away from beginning in Flushing, New York, the energy around the 2009 U.S. Open is growing. The Open is annually the biggest tennis tournament held within the United States of America, and always attracts the best talent in the world. This year will be no exception. Players like Roddick, Federer, Nadal, and Murray will all be in the men's draw. For fans of the women's game, they will be treated to play from Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Elena Dementieva, and Dinara Safina. All in all, this shapes up to be a great tournament for tennis fans around the world to enjoy.
Starting on August 31st, 2009 and running until the championships on September 13th, 2009, the U.S. Open continually attracts more visitors each year. In 2008, over 720,000 fans packed the stands, over the duration of the tournament, to see Roger Federer win the men's side, while Serena Williams dominated the women, and this year promises to be better than ever.
Until the Men's and Women's draws are announced on Thursday, there is no way of knowing what the road to the title will look like for many of the top ranked players in the world. Currently, the U.S. Open is in the qualifying stages, and once complete, the field for the 42nd U.S. Open will be set. On Thursday, the USTA will announce the draws for both the Men's and Women's sides. Coverage of the announcement will begin on Thursday at 12:00pm on ESPN News.
Though the draws and the seeding has not been set, there are still several ways for fans of tennis to wager on the 2009 U.S. Open. Bodog has separate wagers for both men and women. As most could probably guess, it will be Federer and Serena Williams at the top of the odds makers lists.
