Tiger Woods Plays well on Saturday with a 65

Sports Betting News - August 8th, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith

Tiger Woods entered Saturday's third round play at the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational just 5 strokes behind the leader Padraig Harrington. Tiger played well Saturday despite constant sprinkles of rain through out the round. His best round of the tournament so far was Thursday, when tiger Woods shot a 68, and reached to 2 under par on the tournament. tiger returned on Friday to shoot a modest even score of 70. Saturday was the day for Tiger however, teeing off just a couple of minutes past 12:00 pm, Tiger Woods finished the day with a 65, shooting 5 under par.

Tiger Woods started the day off well parring the first four holes, fallowed by a birdie on the 5th hole. Tiger than went on to par the next 2 holes before he recorded his first, and only bogey on the day at the 8th hole, a long par 4. Tiger gathered himself well on the back nine, making a run for a good position on Sunday afternoon. Woods putted in a birdie on the 9th hole, after bogeying the 8th hole before, and started to catch fire soon after. On the 13th hole, another par 4, Tiger drove the ball down the middle of the fair way, than hit a nice lob wedge 3 feet from the hole, and putted that in for birdie as well.

Tiger managed to record three more birdies on the back nine, after that birdie on the 13th hole. The 15th hole was maybe the nicest Birdie putt for Tiger all day long, it came on one of the smaller par three's. Tiger hit an approach shot just a bit out of range, but saw the line on the green, nailing another birdie from just over 15 feet. On the next hole the 16th, Tiger sank another birdie putt, and recorded his last birdie of the day on the final hole, the par 4 18th. Tiger finished the day 5 under par, and is now 7 under par for the tournament. Tiger Woods has not won the tournament yet, in fact he is still two strokes behind the leader Padraig Harrington.

Harrington teed off to start the day just about two hours after Tiger, and is still on the golf course as i write this article. Padraig Harrington is shooting well today at 2 under par, but it is his first round of 64, that still has him in the lead. Tim Clark who has played well all weekend is in the hunt for the title too, shooting a 66 on Thursday, and a 68 on Friday, and Clark is still currently 3rd behind tiger Woods at 6 under par. Barring any set backs the final round of play will come down to Tiger Woods, Padraig Harrington, and Tim Clark, all fighting for the title Sunday afternoon. Coverage of the final round of play at the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational will start at 2:00 pm on CBS.
