UFC 100 this Saturday features the highly anticipated rematch between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir. This is the main event on a fight card which is so hyped that tickets actually sold before they were made available to the general public. The two fought back in UFC 81 in Lesnar's first ever UFC fight. Even though Brock lost the first fight he become an instant hit for the UFC. His huge size and explosiveness separates him from other fighters. He came out right from the opening seconds of the fight and started pounding on Mir. Lesnar landed repeated punches and bloodied up his more experienced opponent. He had no problem taking Mir to the ground either as he was easily able to take him down. His inexperience cost him though as Mir was able to get a hold of Lesnar's leg and force him to tap out via submission. Even though he lost, he showed that he has the potential to dominate the Heavyweight division in the UFC as he gains more experience.
For Saturday's fight Lesnar is listed as a favorite as the betting odds has him listed at -240. Mir is the underdog in the fight and is listed at +190. This will be a very exciting match up as Lesnar will looking to get revenge from their first meeting. If Mir is able to beat him again then the hype surrounding Lesnar will no doubt go down as he will have lost to him twice. Most people believe that the first fight was simply a case of him being inexperienced and that he will be much more prepared for this fight. The way Lesnar brutally beat Mir before getting submitted shows that he truly is an explosive fighter and may be nearly unbeatable if he becomes more well rounded. It seems to me that it will be a very tough task for Mir to find a way to beat the gigantic Lesnar for a second time. His future legacy in the UFC will be on the line and with revenge motivating him all signs point to Lesnar -240 as the smart bet.
Currently Brock Lesnar is the current UFC Heavyweight Champion. He earned the title when he defeated the former champion Randy Couture in November of last year. He truly put a beating on Couture and showed how much of force he can be in the sport. Mir is the current UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion earning the title by absolutely destroying Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in UFC 92. The winner of that fight earned the right to fight for the heavyweight title setting up the rematch with Lesnar. This Saturday night at UFC 100 it will be an absolute brawl when Lesnar and Mir meet again. Look for Brock Lesnar to get his revenge and put an absolute beating on Frank Mir winning by knockout.
