Sports Betting News - June 30, 2009 - Written by Glen
The Williams's Venus and Serena, Dinara Safina, and Elena Dementieva have all gone into, the quarterfinals of the Womens Singles at the Championships, Wimbledon. If History is any indication, The WIlliams sister's will continue their rivalry going into the Finals.
Venus has won against Agnieszka Radwanska to advance to play Dinara Safina. Sister Serena overpowered Victoria Azarenka, moving her right along with Venus. Serena will tangle with Elena Dementieva too determine who will advance into the Finals. The sisters both have the determination and the skill so this may once again pit family against family. There is a known rival between the siblings, one that they would both like to live out once more.
Elena Dementieva is the 4th seed, and the lowest of the four opponents. She brought about the end of Francesca Schiavone to advance into the quarter finals. The other underdog, Dinara Safina, holds the third seed. She made her way to the top by demolishing the German teen, Sabine Lisicki, to reach the semi-finals for her first time.
Wimbledon has seen a Williams sister in the Finals only once in the last nine years, and this is unlikely to change in 2009. Expect at least one Venus or Serena to enter the finals, though the probability of both moving on is higher still. The third and fourth seeds will have their hands full and their work cut out for them, so if luck is not theirs on July 1st, then trouble indeed will befall these two girls.
