After a demoralizing knockout loss to Dan Henderson, Michael Bisping has regrouped and is ready to step back into the octagon as he faces Denis Kang at UFC 105. Before his loss to Henderson, Bisping was believed to be one win away from a middleweight title shot against champion Anderson Silva. The loss sent him backwards and he now looks to get back to where he once was.
Bisping, a 30 year old British fighter, comes into the fight with an 18-2 record, with 11 wins by knockout, and will be fighting in his homeland of Manchester, England. He brings a good submission attack and is a very talented wrestler. Bisping is also a very well rounded fighter and has excellent kickboxing skills. He is very patient and his takedown skills and ability to gain control on top while on the mat will be at his advantage. Bisping will use his kickboxing skills to do damage while standing which should help in wearing down Kang. More importantly, this fight will serve as motivation for Bisping after his embarrassing loss to Henderson. The one area where he does not have the advantage will be in his submission offense, but he should be able to counter with his solid top control while on the mat.
Kang comes into the fight as the more experienced fighter, but enters the bout losing three of his last six bouts. He holds a record of 32-11-1. At one time, he was considered one of the top middleweight fighters in the world, but now has a UFC reccord of 1-1 and lost his debut in the octagon to Alan Belcher by submission. Despite this loss by submission, Kang should still hold an advantage on the ground over Bisping. He is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt and also brings excellent kickboxing skills to the fight as well. Kang is a very skilled grappler and brings with him impressive knockout power that he will need to utilize against Bisping. He will need to attempt to keep the fight off the mat and use his striking skills to wear down Bisping to gain control when the fight does go to the mat.
BetUS sportsbook has the money lines set for this bout at UFC 105. Kang has his set at -125 and Bisping has his set at -105, according to our UFC Betting Odds. It will be interesting to see how Bisping will respond after his loss to Anderson which took away all the momentum he had built up before their fight.
