Boise State will look to remain undefeated on Friday night as they travel to play Louisiana Tech in a Western Athletic conference showdown. The Broncos are currently tied with Nevada for first place in the conference and a loss could hurt their chance at another BCS Bowl bid. Boise State is coming off a 45-7 victory over San Jose State last Saturday. The Bulldogs are currently under a two-game losing skid after falling to Idaho on Saturday 35-34. The Broncos won big last year over Louisiana tech 38-3.
Boise State comes into the game with an explosive, fast-paced offense. They are 3rd in the country in scoring with 41 points per game. Quarterback Kellen Moore leads their offense and is first in the nation with a quarterback rating of 171.0. He has thrown for 1,905 yards and 24 touchdowns, with only 2 interceptions. His two favorite targets are Austin Pettis and Titus Young. They have combined for 1,048 yards receiving and 16 touchdowns. Jeremy Avery will get most of the touches at running back. He has rushed for 636 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Broncos' defense has played well all season, but especially over the last two games where they have allowed just one touchdown. They are allowing only 13 points per game and have forced 19 turnovers this season.
Louisiana Tech's offense took a hit last week as they lost running back Daniel Porter during their game last week due to an injury. He has rushed for 640 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, but his status for Friday is still uncertain. If he can't go, quarterback Ross Jenkins will need to step up his game. He has thrown for 1,467 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite being benched in the second half of last week's loss, he still remains the starter for the Bulldogs. Dennis Moore is their leader at wide receiver and he has 357 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns.
The best defensive weapon for the Bulldogs against Boise State will be their offense. Their offense must sustain some long drives to keep the Broncos explosive offense off the field. Forcing turnovers will be key as well for Louisiana Tech's defensive unit in order for the Bulldogs to have a shot in this game.
Boise State will come into the game as 21 point favorites over Louisiana Tech according to BetUS sportsbook. The over/under is set at 50. The Broncos will look to keep their record unblemished as they attempt to continue to climb up the NCAA College Football Standings.
