UNC Tarheels Square Off Against Syracuse Orange In 2K Classic Final

The 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer comes to a close tonight as the (4) North Carolina Tarheels take on the (24) Syracuse Orange in Madison Square Garden. This final round game matches up two top 25 teams which had impressive showings in the semifinals.

Yesterday, the North Carolina Tarheels were able to hang on to beat the (15) Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite leading large, the Tarheels managed to stave off an Ohio State comeback securing a 4 point win. When everything had settled, the score was 77 to 73 in favor of the Tarheels.

After the match, UNC head coach Roy Williams expressed his frustration. "We feel very fortunate," Williams said. "We have a chance to be a very good basketball team, but I want it a lot sooner than it's coming."

Coming off that win, the Tarheels now face a sharp Syracuse team with it's own legend of a coach, Jim Boeheim.

Boeheim has just recently racked up his 800th win coaching college basketball and would love to add another to that total with a win over North Carolina. To get to this point, the Orange dominated the (12) Cal Golden Bears en route to a 95 to 73 victory. Unlike tonight's opponent, Syracuse did not allow Cal to get back in the game after getting up big.
