Sports Betting News - September 1st, 2009 - Written by John
You go to the refrigerator when you want something to eat. You go to the medicine cabinet when you want to alleviate a headache. And when you are secretly filmed through the peep-hole in your hotel room naked by a co-worker, you go to Oprah.
For the first time since her emotional ordeal where an unidentified person, likely a co-worker, video-taped her nude without consent, ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews spoke to Oprah in a segment to be aired later this month. She called the incident a "nightmare" and was terrified that the video would catch fire on the Internet.
"I opened up my computer (and) could feel my heart pounding," Andrews also said.
The interview is in post-production right now and will be aired during Oprah's "Summer Headlines" special on September 11th.
The perpetrator, she said, would face criminal charges and that she wants to file a lawsuit.
Andrews has been a staple to live ESPN broadcasts, smoothly transitioning her questions to players and comfortably avoiding awkward situations with emotional athletes and coaches. She was the on-field interviewer last year when, heading into halftime, she asked Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden how he planned on stopping North Carolina State's offense. His answer was, "You go in there and you start praying, pray that (N.C. State) will quit holding." Andrews laughed it off and, in turn, Bowden's anger seemed more like classic amusement than bitterness.
In the meantime, Andrews is preparing for another college football season and is scheduled to be on the field for ESPN's season opener, where the aforementioned N.C. State opens up against South Carolina.
Andrews can also be seen in EA Sports' new NCAA Football 10 video game as a personality in the game's "Road to Glory" feature, giving status reports on your team and players.
