Head To Head PAC 10 Player Prop Bets Going On Now

Sports Betting News - September 2nd, 2009 - Written by John

On a yearly basis, the Pac-10 is one of the strongest rushing conferences. Most of their teams tend to pound the ball against their opponents. In 2009, some of college football's best running backs should come right out of this conference. Four of these teams will feature running backs that should lead the league in rushing statistics.

California running back Jahvid Best is set to lead California and it's offense. After coming off a great season in 2008 in which he rushed for 1,580 yards on 194 attempts, he hopes to lead his No.19 ranked Golden Bears to the Pac-10 title. One thing thing that could hamper him this year early is that he has been limited in practice due to a toe injury as a result of off season foot surgery. His contact has been limited in practice but coaches insist he will be fine. Best rushed for 15 touchdowns in 2008.

The 16th ranked Oregon Ducks will feature LeGarrette Blount and his running ability this season. Blount who rushed for 1,002 yards on 137 attempts is expected to put up impressive numbers in 2009. Oregon has been strong the past two seasons with their spread offense. Despite some losses on the offensive line, look for Blount to improve on his 17 rushing touchdowns in 2008.

Stanford running back Tony Gerhart should see his numbers increase from last year. He rushed for 1,136 yards on 210 carries in 2008. In addition, he added 15 touchdowns. Stanford is a very physical team who likes to pound the football. Look for them to continue this during the 2009 season and relying heavily on the running the football, especially with a new starting quarterback this year.

Oregon State returns two offensive starters who accounted for half of the yardage gained by the offense in 2008. Both are brothers and running back Jacquizz Rodgers is half of the equation. Rodgers had a great year last season in taking the bulk of carries in the running game. He should produce nicely in 2009. Last year, he rushed for 1,253 yards on 259 carries and 11 touchdowns. He had alot of carries last year so fans can expect this year to mirror last.
