Spike's show The Ultimate Fighter will showcase a huge fight September 30 as Kimbo Slice steps back into the octagon and will take on Roy Nelson. This fight was announced at the end of this week's episode. This fight will probably be the most watched mixed martial arts fight in history. In this years season of the reality show, Slice's presence has brought twice the amount of viewers than ever before. This will be the toughest opponent that Slice has faced in his young MMA career and it will be against the former IFL champion. The winner of this year's show will earn a contract with the UFC. Even though the fight has already occurred, this fight will undoubtedly be one to view. The championship fight will be shown live on December 5.
Slice comes into the fight with a 3-1 record in his brief MMA career. After being knocked out last October by Seth Petruzelli, this will be his second stint with MMA. His popularity never took a hit after this loss and will be a great matchup for Nelson. He made his presence known by youtube videos of him streetfighting. Some critics thought his entrance to MMA would damage the sport's image, but this has not turned out to be the case. After his loss to Petruzelli, he had other options to follow but has instead looked to make a comeback with the sport.
Nelson comes into the reality show as one of the front runners to win it all. He has the experience that it will take to get to the title fight, but must first get by Slice. The 249 pound fighter comes into the fight with a 13-4 record, but has lost his last two fights. In his last fight, he lost by decision to Jeff Monson and prior to this, he lost to Andrei Arlovski by knockout. He is known for his great grappling skills and good agility for a man his size. How he withstands Slice's incredible punching power should weigh heavily on the outcome.
Since the fight has already taken place, there are no betting odds available. This will definitely be a highly viewed bout with two great fighters.
