2010 Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule | 2010 NFL Team Schedules
The Pittsburgh Steelers return to the 2009 football season with a bull’s-eye on their backs. As the defending Superbowl champions head coach Mike Tomlin and two time Superbowl Champ and quarter back Ben Roethlisberger need to keep the pressure on the rest of the league. Last year’s Superbowl victory came without the offensive lime light as the Steelers finished 22nd in total offense and 20th in total points scored per game. In 2009 just like in 2008 the Steel show will rely heavily on their defense.
The preseason 2009 Steelers Schedule begins with a Superbowl rematch as the Arizona Cardinals visit Pittsburgh at Heinz Field. Week two moves to the road as the Steelers take on the high pay roll of the Washington Redskins. Week three brings the team back to Pittsburgh and back to a more familiar opponent in the AFC east’s Buffalo Bills and their new star wide out T O. The preseason ends back in the NFC with a trip to Carolina to face the up and coming Carolina Panthers.
The true test for the Superbowl champs in the 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule comes in the regular season and in week 1 as the Tennessee Titans come to Heinz Field in what should be a Defensive Match up. The hits don’t stop there as Pittsburgh prepares for another defensive powerhouse in a trip to Chicago to face the Bears in week 2. Week 3 delivers the first division match up as the Steel show travels to Cincinnati, a field where Pitt has had much success in the past. Week 4’s game is back at Heinz field and the first test for the Steelers defense as the offensive minded San Diego chargers come to town in a crucial AFC match up. Week 5 and the road takes the Steelers to Detroit to face the Lions for their first and only game in a Dome arena this year. Week 6 is another AFC north match up and a chance to jump ahead in the standings as the Steelers play host the Cleveland Browns. The Steelers get a second week at home and another test for their Superbowl defense as the running attack of Adrian Peterson oand the Minnesota Vikings visit Heinz Field in week 7. The Steelers get a bye in week 8 and two weeks to prepare for their next opponent. The Denver Broncos at mile high in week 9. In week 10 the AFC north Cincinnati Bengals get another shot at the Steelers, this time in Pittsburghat Heinz Field. Week 11 its back on the road to Kansa City as the Steelers look to shut down Larry Johnson and the chiefs. Week 12 might be the most important game of the year for the Steelers as their division rival Baltimore Ravens host the Steel show in Baltimore. The Steelers come home in week 13 for a game against the rebuilding Oakland Raiders and what should be a late schedule victory. Week 14 is another trip into the AFC north as the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Cleveland for their second match up against the Browns. The next two weeks the Steelers get to stay home as the Green bay Packers take a visit to Heinz Field week 15. Week 16 brings in the Baltimore Ravens for another AFC defensive heavy weight fight just one week before the end of the regular season. Then it’s a trip to gorgeous Miami Beach week 17, as the Steelers hope to put a strong hold on the end of the 2009 regular season with a victory in Miami.
