The 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers have done some major modifications to the whole system this year starting with the firing of head coach Jon Gruden, after his 7 years the organization wanted a change. They wanted to bring in a younger guy to help relate with the players, so they move Raheem Morris to the head coaching position. Defensive cordinator Monte Kiffin left to be the Defensive Coordinator for his son at the University of Tennessee. Jim Bates over the defensive cordinator job, he has been coaching in the NFL for 17 years. The Buccaneers also hire Jeff Jagodzinski to make the offense more of a physical run-oriented system rather than the west coast offense they ran under Gruden. Jeff Garcia is now in with the Raiders, so they bring in Byron Leftwich and they also draft quarterback Josh Freeman. They pick up free agent Derrick Ward to help the offense, they also decide to make a trade to pick up Kellen Winslow. The Buccaneers also unload some players that have been the face of the team for years Warrick Dunn, Joey Galloway, and Derrick Brooks have all been let go. The 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Season Preview looks to be about the same as the 2008 Season.

2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL DraftThe 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Draft met some of needs the Buccaneers had going into the 2009 season, thay got their future quarterback in Kansas States Josh Freeman as the 17th draft pick. He is supposed to be a mobile guy when needed and has shown great strength in his throwing ability. With their next selection they chose Roy Miller, a defense tackle out of Texas, he should be able to add some much needed depth to the defense. The Bucs picked up a defensive end to try to help get pressure on the quarterback, Kyle Moore out of USC should be a good fit the team. I think the new regime is getting players they actually need.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers QuarterbacksThe 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterbacks situation should be some competetion should be between Byron Leftwich and Josh Freeman. You will probably see Leftwich get the starting position due to his experience, even though his quarterback coach called him slow. I do see Freeman getting the starting job part way through the year. They due still have Luke McCown, who should be the third string quarterback.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Running BacksThe 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Running Backs are stocked with three solid tailbacks, but two of them have had some injuries. The newest back is Derrick Ward who showed last year with the Giants that he can be a dominate back in the right situation. Ernest Graham was good back the past 2 years, but last year missed last 6 games with ankle problems. The Bucs know all about running back injuries thanks to Cadillac Williams, the past 2 years he has missed majority of the seasons. If they can all stay healthy it will be big help for the rest of team. Derrick Ward looks to be in line for the starting job.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wide ReceiversThe 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wide Recievers have lost 2 long time veterans in Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard. Now they need their franchise tagged receiver Antonio Bryant to step up and take a leadership role. He has the potential, but not happy with the franchise tag put on him. Michael Clayton, Maurice Stovall, and Dexter Jackson will be competing for the other playing time and starting position. Tight End wise they stacked with Kellen Winslow, Jeremy Stevens, and John Gilmore.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive LineThe 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Line has chosen quite a few linemen in the past couple years. Right Tackle position should be held down by Jeremy Trueblood, while the Left Tackle position is still up in the air between Donald Penn, James Lee, Jeremy Zuttah, and rookie Xavier Fulton. The Guards should still be Davin Joseph and Aaron Sears. The Center is going to be Jeff Faine, who they picked up last year.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defensive LineThe 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defensive Line is a little in question right now due to not quite having the players they want for their new system. Right End is definitely going to be Gaines Adams after a great rookie year last year. Left End job still in the air between Jimmy Wilkerson and Kyle Moore, Wilkerson is a veteran and Moore is a rookie. The Tackle battle is going on now between Chris Hovan and Ryan Sims.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Linebackers
The 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Linebackers lost their long time leader in Derrick Brooks. Now they are looking for Jermaine Philips to make the difficult move from Strong Safety to Linebacker. The other 2 Linebackers are between Barrett Ruud, Quincy Black, or Geno Hayes. They picked up Angelo Crowell who still nedds to adjust to a new defense.
2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers SecondaryThe 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Secondary will still have Ronde Barber as the leader in the defensive back field. The opposite side of Barber will be Aqib Talib who showed great potential last year. Elbert Mack will have his shot to shine this year at the nickel back job. Three guys are fighting for the other starting job Tanard Jackson, Sabby Piscatelli, and Will Allen. The 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers will need a strong performance from the Defensive Secondary in order to keep teams honest. Look for a heavy dose of the blitz, which should in turn rush throws, allowing for easy interceptions from Barber and company.
