NFL News - August 1st, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Start anew this 2010 football season. No John Gruden, No Monte Kiffin, No Derrick Brooks, and a fist full of new players and coaches. The new head coach is Raheem Morris previously the defensive backs coach last year. The Buccaneers finished the last season under head coach John Gruden with a record of 9-7 and placed third in the NFC south, just one game over the New Orleans Saints. Many expect the Buccaneers to have trouble winning games early on, and are likely to loose more game this year, than they lost last year.
The new look Buccaneers can make you rich this 2009-2010 season, with a lot of luck and great play that is. Bodog and BetED, two of the Paramount online sportsbook provider to wager with online, have already released odds on all 32 NFL football teams to win the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami. The Buccaneers have the worst odds in their division, the NFC south at 100:1. The Saints who finished last have the best odds to win this year at 20:1, and both the Carolina panthers and the Atlanta Falcons are 25:1 odds to win the Super Bowl. So if the Buccaneers can some how make it to the playoffs and maybe make it to the Super Bowl and win, that 100:1 odds if played right can change your life.
The Buccaneers are known for their defense, and that is what Raheem Morris, the new head coach brings to the table, Defense. It might just be to little to late though, The Buccaneers defense ranked alright last year compared to other years in the past. The Tampa defense was 10th in the league last year in points allowed per game, at 20.2 points per game, and 9th in Total yards allowed per game at 306.1 Yards. The ground game is what killed the Tampa defense last year, allowing 118.8 yards per game ranking 19th in the league.
The Buccaneers did not have first round draft pick just a few years ago, Cadillac Williams all year. Cadillac is a huge portion of the Buccaneers offense and his presence on the field opens up the passing game for the Buccaneers offense. If the Buccaneers are going to have a chance to beat the house and actually make the 100:1 odds bet come to life, they will have to score points. The Buccs offense only scored 22 points per game last year just 2 more points than the defense allowed per game last year. The Buccaneers will have to focus on getting the ball in the end zone if they want to taste any flavor of success at the end of the season. With the other NFC south teams like the Panthers and Falcons getting better and better the Buccaneers will have to catch up quick this season. The Buccaneers will probably win 7 or 8 games, but cashing in on the 100:1 odds to win the Super Bowl just might be to far out of reach for the Tampa team in 2009.
