NFL News - July 29th, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smith
The Panthers enter the 2009 football season with modest odds to win the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami at 25:1. A great bet to place if you are a Carolina Panthers fan. The Panthers featured the 3rd best rushing offense last year, and that was with a rookie (Jonathan Stewart) as a back up running back . The Panthers also posted the 7th best scoring offense in all of football, scoring 25.9 points a game last year and made it all the way to the divisional round of the playoffs loosing to the Arizona Cardinals 33 to 13.
The Panthers have the majority of their offense and defensive players returning back to the team in 2010 and this core group of players could lead them to the promise land. Bodog has released early Super Bowl lines and the Panthers are not even the most favored to win in their division. The Falcons have the same odds as the Panthers at 25:1 and the Saints who didn't even make the playoffs last year, have the best odds to win the Super Bowl in Miami out of all 4 NFC south division teams with 20:1 odds to win.
The Panthers were with out star wide receiver Steve Smith for the first two games of the season lat year do to a 2 game suspension for fighting CB Kevin Lucas in mini camps. Steve Smith his 100% healthy and a big part of their passing game success. If the Panthers can manage to win their division again this year, that 25:1 odds bet can end up being a good wager to place. Of course if the Panthers do make it to the Super Bowl in Miami, they will likely have to compete against the power houses of the AFC in the Patriots or the Steelers. Still 25:1 odds for a team that won 12 games last year and is only going to get better is a smart wager to make.
