Heath Miller To Stay In Pittsburgh Until 2014

NFL News - July 30th, 2009 - Written by Mike

The Pittsburgh Steelers have locked down their tight end until the 2014 season; Heath Miller could not be happier. He loves the organization and the fans of Pittsburgh, and he has been a consistent part of the offense for years. In his four years with the Steelers, he has only missed 2 games. He is clutch in playoffs games, and is among the best blocking tight ends in the NFL.

Miller is thought to be one of the most underrated tight ends in the league since he does not have the speed or moves likes Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates. Heath has played in 7 playoffs gamed and has came up with 348 receiving yards in those games.

The terms of the contract are believed to be six-year deal to be worth $35.3 million dollars. Additionally he will also receive a $12.5 million dollar signing bonus. This up coming season was the last year on Miller's contract and Pittsburgh knows he has a lot of football left to play, him being only 25 years old. Heath has made a name for himself in the red zone by being one of Big Ben's favorite targets due to his great hands and feel for the end zone.

Heath had 48 catches and gained 514 yards last season with three touchdown catches, and he had 47 catches in his 2007 season. He hopes to add a lot more numbers to his career totals as a Steeler, which he currently has 168 catches for 1,932 yards and 21 touchdowns. Pittsburgh has one of their key components to their offensive plans for the future, where they would love to bring home a couple more Super Bowl titles to the Steelers Nation.
