Event 52 at the 2009 World Series of Poker was a $3000 Triple Chance No Limit Hold'em event. The three day event drew 854 entrants with top 81 finishers placing in the money. The players battled hard all vying for the $506,800 first prize payout. Some of pokers top players all showed up up for this event including Erick Lindgren, Eli Elezra, Gavin Griffin, Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier, Huberto Brenes, and World Poker Tour announcer Mike Sexton. After the first day of play there were 154 players remaining in the field. The chipleader after the first day of play was Tim Horan who finished the day with about 150,000 in chips. Horan ended the nights play with his KK besting and opponents AK to give him the overnight lead.

The players returned for Day 2 action with the play resuming at 2pm. Going into Day 2 action some of the notable players remaining in the field were Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari, 2009 WSOP Player of the Year contender Jeffrey Lisandro, Kathy Liebert, and two of online poker's most recognizable names Eric "Rizen" Lynch and Isaac "WestMenloAA" Baron. As play began every decision was critical as the money payouts neared. After a few hours of play the bubble finally bursted when a players AA was cracked by a player holding JJ who made a straight. With 81 players left in the field everyone was guaranteed a payout of $5,892 for their efforts. The players then took a one hour dinner break then came back to try and earn a seat at the final table. As players played fiercely late into the night play halted with 16 players remaining in the field. The most recognizable name left was Eric "Rizen" Lynch who is no stranger to WSOP final tables. Ultimately "Rizen" came up just short of the final table busting out in 12th place earning him $33,281 for his 3 days of work. After Max Greenwood's JJ was unable to hold against Jorg Peisert's AK the final table was set with Greenwood going out in 10th place.

Wes Watson was the first player eliminated at the final table netting him $47,070 for his efforts. As the final table played out most of the pots were won by a single preflop raise or a single post flop bet being enough to rake in the chips. The players were trying to play solid poker with so much money on the line with the prizes increasing greatly with every knockout. Finally, William Erickson was the next player to go when his A10 was unable to improve against Jorg Peisert's QQ. Erickson netted $53,622 for his 8th place performance. Karga Holt quickly followed going out in 7th place when his AK was unable to hold versus Michael Katz's KQ. Holt did however earn a healthy $63,781 as a consolation prize.

With 6 players remaining Peisert began picking up a ton of pots and took a sizable chip lead. He notched the next elimination when his 33 hit a set against Michael Katz's 44. Katz picked up $79,385 but was no doubt disappointed to go out in such an unlucky manner. With 5 players remaining all were guaranteed to earn six figures for their great showing. Jason Somerville was next to be eliminated earning him $103,591. Jorg Peisert's seemingly unstoppable rush continued when his J10 bested the AQ of Michael Noda. Noda took home $142,035 for his 4th place showing. The Peisert train surged on when he next eliminated Benjamin Gilbert in 3rd place. Gilbert had to be disappointed coming so close to winning a bracelet but the $205,180 was surely a nice consolation prize for him. Peisert began heads up play with a huge chip lead and it did not take him long to close the deal. Peisert held 99 and that bested Jason DeWitt's K4 eliminated him in 2nd place for a healthy $313,227. Jorg Peisert steamrolled the final table and for his excellent performance he earned $506,800 and a WSOP gold bracelet. Congratulations to Jorg Peisert for winning Event 52 at the 2009 World Series of Poker.
