His 31 Home Runs this season gives Pujols a MLB record 9th straight 30 HR season to start a career. He already held the record with 8 straight 30 HR seasons to start a season. Barring injury Pujols is likely to set this record streak at very high number. Pujols has a career 350 HRs which makes him the third youngest player in history to achieve that feat. Amid all of the recent steroid allegations in MLB, Pujols continues to stay out of that discussion and puts up monster numbers year after year. The scary part is that he seems to be getting better each season. After it is all said and done the Cardinals first baseman may go down as the best hitter the game has ever seen.

Joining Pujols on the 2009 All Star team are his teammates Ryan Franklin and Yadier Molina. This is the first All Star appearance for both of them. The other National League All Star starters are Ryan Braun, Carlos Beltran, Chase Utley, Hanley Ramirez, David Wright, and Raul Ibanez. Teammate Yadier Molina is the NL starting catcher. The second leading vote getter behind Pujols, was the American League's Derrick Jeter.
