Sports Betting News - July 18, 2009 - Written by Glen
The sun is shining, the weather is cool, and the golfer's are doing their thing. The third day is in full progress, and Turnberry is seeing some incredible swings.
Now that Tiger Woods has been cut from the tournament, the remaining players won't have to contend with who is generally considered the top ranked golfer in the world. The third day still leaves many contestants under half way through the course, so at this point leadership can change hands at any moment.
Current leader is American Tom Watson. He has made it through five holes today, and landed on the par with each one. He is currently fiveunder par, despite having 5 bogeys on day two. Throughout his first and second day, he made up for his bogeys with 10 birdies, keeping him in an active position.
Retief Goosen is currently Watson's runner up. Goosen has had less bogeys in this Open, but he is also several birdies shie of keeping up with Tom Watson. He is only four under par, so any slip up by Watson will allow Goosen a chance to pull into the lead.
Three players are tied for third, and they are sitting at 3 under par. Behind them is Marino at two under par, then four players at one under par. It is still a close game here in round three, and with so many holes left the players could bump each other up or down at an unprecedented pace. The action is just heating up, so stay with us as we continue to monitor the match.
