As the Saints come marching into the 2009 NFL Season, they will looking to better their 2008 record of 8-8. Playing in one of the tougher divisions in the NFL, the NFC South, the Saints regularly go head to head with teams like the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons. Half of the Saints' division made the playoffs in 2008, which leaves very little room for adjustments. The 2009 Saints must hit the ground running, as the 2009 New Orleans Saints Schedule appears to be one of the tougher ones in the NFL. Drew Brees will be back at the controls of the best offense in 2008. For the Saints, it doesn't get much better to start the year, as they will play host to the 0-16 (2008 record) Detroit Lions, in Week 1 of the 2009 NFL Regular Season. The carnage is slated to take place on September 13th, live from the Superdome. The following week, in Week 2 (September 20th) the Saints will be traveling to Pennsylvania, to visit the Philadelphia Eagles, in what should be the first real test of the 2009 New Orleans Saints Schedule. Week 3 would have the Saints at Buffalo, before they went head to head with the Jets at home. Week five was their bye week, and they would resume play against the Giants in week six. Week seven would put them back on the road, putting the Saints into Miami. Returning home, the Saints will take on Atlanta in week 8. Week 9 brings Carolina to New Orleans, then they Saints would travel to St. Louis to verse the Rams in week 10. Moving into week 11 the Saints would have to battle Tampa Bay in Tampa. The Saints will then host New England in week 12, followed by a quick trip to Washington and Atlanta in the 13th and 14th weeks. Dallas and Tampa Bay (again) will be their next opposition, and they would both be in New Orleans. Their final week brings New Orleans to Carolina, to once again play the Panthers.

Though the New Orleans Saints stumbled coming into the 2009 NFL Playoffs, they can not be discounted.
