If you are a Terrell Owens fan, you can now wake up and eat a big bowl of T.O.'s Honey Nut Oats. Terrell Owens now has his own cereal that he unveiled today at a Rochester supermarket where about 400 fans showed up and were chanting "T.O., T.O.." Owens said he has never had a food named after him. The cereal comes out of Pittsburgh from PLB Sports, which knows about the professional sports and food products. Back when Doug Flutie was the Bills quarterback, they had produced Flutie Flakes. Buffalo loves T.O., who is bringing Buffalo to the spotlight with the "T.O. Show," a show being filmed for VH1.
The cereal went on sale last week at Top Friendly Market locations in western New York and has already sold over 11,000 boxes out of these stores alone. Training camp began on Saturday for the Bills, giving Terrell Owens a chance to sign plenty of boxes of cereal, each with his face and name all over it. Since the arrival of T.O., Buffalo has sold more than 53,000 tickets. Owens jerseys are also a hot commodity, as they are reported to regularly fly off the shelves.
"I am very honored and humble," Owens told the Associated Press. "I feel more pressure these selling boxes of T.O.'s than I do scoring touchdowns." This hysterical quote allegedly had fans laughing in the crowds
Honey Nut Toasted Oats can be ordered through PLBSports's website, and a quick search can point you in the right direction.Nike sponsorships are one thing, as was the wheaties box, but actually achieving your own cereal is something we have only seen in Flutie Flakes.
