2010 Miami Dolphins Preview | 2010 NFL Team Previews

miami dolphins logoThe Dolphins had a great season last year with a 11-5 record which is awesome compared to the year before when they were 1-15. It started with Bill Parcells becoming the executive vice president of football operations for the Dolphins. The 2009 Miami Dolphins Season Preview is still very excited with the hire of Tony Sparano as head coach who was with Parcells in Dallas. Most all of the coordinators are coming back, and we should see more of the trademark Wildcat offense, which the Miami Dolphins displayed last year with Ronnie Brown and Chad Pennington. It proved to be very effective against most defenses in the NFL. Last years’ number one draft pick Jake Long proved to be a smart move. This year they should have a new wrinkle to the wildcat with the addition of Pat White which they snagged with their second pick in this years’ draft.

2009 Miami Dolphins Free Agency And Trades

2009 Miami Dolphins NFL DraftIn the 2009 Miami Dolphins NFL Draft they addressed their needs for receivers and some good youthful defensive players. Vontae Davis the cornerback out of Illinois was chosen with the 25th pick. His play is amazing, but his attitude is the big question. Pat White could be a vital piece of the offense in the wildcat formation or as a receiver which he was drafted. They are pleased with their next pick Sean Smith cornerback which should help their secondary concerns. Patrick Turner had a good tenure at USC, they hope he can show some motivation and help the big concern at wide receiver.

2009 Miami Dolphins QuarterbacksThey made a smart pick up for their 2009 Miami Dolphins Quarterbacks with Chad Pennington after he was released by the Jets when they got Brett Favre, Pennington won the comeback player of the year last season. He threw for 19 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions, showing he is a good decision maker. Pennington is also being a great mentor to Chad Henne who is expected to be back up and maybe the future quarterback. With the departuree the of Josh McCown and John Beck that made the drafting of Pat White make more sense. Pat White could have instant effectiveness if he can grasp their wildcat formation. He can make a scary presence with his quick feet.

2009 Miami Dolphins Running Backsronnie brown miami dolphins running backRonnie Brown made a name for himself last season after been hurt way to often in his part of his career. He was the center of the effective wildcat formation they started to use last season. Ronnie Brown has a back up in Ricky Williams who showed he might not be the dominate 2009 Miami Dolphins Running Backs member he once was, but he can go in there and give Brown some needed break to get his breathe back. Together, the two make the Wildcat formation very dangerous for opposing defenses. Ricky was pretty good at catching passes out the back field. The Dolphins used Patrick Hobbs as a special back in the wildcat formation for his quick moves on his feet. They have a powerful fullback in Lousasksa Polite who has dominate in fourth and one drive.

2009 Miami Dolphins Wide ReceiversThe 2009 Miami Dolphins Wide Receivers they have for starters are not the biggest names but they each had to least 50 catches thrown by Pennington. Ted Ginn Jr. is starting to show some of the talent that made the Dolphins go out and draft him in the first round two years ago. Greg Camirillo made himself a name in Miami catching some big time passes when they really needed it last season. Davone Bess was a undrafted rookie who caught 54 passes last year. You may see Pat White catch some passes for the Dolphins. Tight end spot has two guys who both shined and did not disappoint anyone in David Martin and Anthony Fasano.

2009 Miami Dolphins Offensive LineThe Dolphins has made some changes to the 2009 Miami Dolphins Offensive Line, center Samson Satele got sent to Oakland, so they pick up ex Raider center Jake Grove to take over the starting position. Jake Long was the number 1 draft pick in the NFL draft last season and he played like it. He made the pro bowl in his rookie year. Left tackle should be Vernon Carey who is trying his hardest to keep his starting spot. If the two guards can stay healthy the protection should be fine, Justin Smiley and Donald Thomas, after they were injured the line was weaker.

2009 Miami Dolphins Defensive Line

Bet Ed Sportsbook For NFL Betting

The 2009 Miami Dolphins Defensive Line will be missing Vonnie Holliday, who was let go to free up some money, they are hoping to get more out of Randy Starks at the end position to take some pressure off of losing Holliday. Starks will not be starting but may have his chance some point in this season, Kendall Langford and Phillip Merling will be starting at the beginning of the year. Nose tackle will be big Jason Ferguson who is 34 and has some knee problems can still produce and be a force in the middle.

2009 Miami Dolphins Linebackersjoey porter miami dolphins linebackerJason Taylor is back after one season with the Redskins, he will probably not be a starter, but he will give Joey Porter a break and sometimes will be the other outside member of the 2009 Miami Dolphins Linebackers opposite of Joey. Joey was dominate last year playing with a chip on his shoulder from the bad past season. Porter was racking up sacks at an alarming rate in 2008, and at one point was on pace to set the season record. The inside linebacker Channing Crowder made a lot of noise with his play and now his mouth, talking trash to Jets new coach Rex Ryan. Ryan and Crowder went back and forth, which is quite unusual between a player and a coach, but things have since been smoothed over. Matt Roth had a big year and showed everyone why he is a starter. If they go to the 4-3 defense you may see more of inside linebacker Akin Ayodele.

2009 Miami Dolphins SecondaryLast season the Dolphins secondary started off slow and they made a move after game two to release Chris Crocker, who has been with the team for quite a while. Yeremiah Bell showed he wanted Crockers job as a 2009 Miami Dolphins Secondary and he got it, he did so well they gave him a contract extension. The Dolphins went out and got Gibril Wilson to help back up Bell at safety. As of now they have Chris Clemons as starting safety but I think Wilson will steal that spot by the beginning of the season. Will Allen and Andre' Goodman had excellent seasons at corner back but Goodman left to go the the Broncos. Goodman will be replaced by rookies Vontae Davis, Sean Smith and Joey Thomas.
