The 2009 Atlanta Falcons schedule is one of the toughest in the league this year and there is a good chance that they will not be able to meet or exceed their record of 11-5 that they had in 2008. They had one of the best turnarounds of the last 20 years in 2008 after they made it into the playoffs coming off of a 4-12 season in 2007. Their talent from last year is still in place in Atlanta but their schedule is ranked #4 and it will be much harder to win some of those games now that teams know they are a force to be reckoned with.

The experts make predictions every year for wins and losses by teams and this year they have the Falcons winning 8 games. This is 3 wins less then what they had last year but it should only motivate the team to do better during the 2009 Atlanta Falcons schedule. Quarterback Matt Ryan is a little more experienced now and should be able to do a little bit better job with the ball in his hands but the tougher opponents will have something to say about that.

The Atlanta Falcons preseason schedule is going to give them a chance to take a look at their new players and get them some time playing together in real game. They have their first preseason NFL game of 2009 on Saturday, August 15th with a game against the worst team in the league last year, the Detroit Lions. That game will be followed by the Rams on August 21, the Chargers on Saturday, August 29, and they will finish up their preseason schedule in Baltimore on Thursday, September 3rd in the Georgia Dome. All of these games will be crucial to getting this young team ready for the tough 2009 Atlanta Falcons regular season schedule.
